A BLEND OF PASSIONS
Lindsay Cray, LMHC-D, is a licensed psychotherapist, outdoor guide, and clinical consultant specializing in Nature-Based Therapy for trauma recovery and professional practice. With over two decades of experience at the intersection of conservation, experiential education, and mental health counseling, she has pioneered a Nature-Based Clinical Therapy model that supports profound healing through intentional engagement with the natural world. Her work has been especially impactful with military veterans and emergency service professionals navigating PTSD, depression, anxiety, and moral injury.
As a certified hiking guide and wilderness survival specialist, Lindsay brings a rare integration of clinical expertise, outdoor leadership, and land-based practice to both counseling and professional training. Her approach is informed by Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Indigenous healing frameworks learned through long-term collaboration, study, and direct experience with Indigenous teachers and communities in North America and the Amazon basin. She has participated in and supported ethically guided traditional medicine ceremonies and land-based healing practices, with a strong commitment to cultural humility, reciprocity, and respect for Indigenous sovereignty and lineage.
Lindsay provides consultation, education, and program development for clinicians and organizations seeking to incorporate evidence-informed, trauma-responsive, and culturally respectful outdoor interventions into therapeutic practice. Her teaching emphasizes nervous system regulation, embodied healing, relational engagement with place, and ethical implementation in real-world clinical and community settings.
An internationally recognized speaker and educator, Lindsay has presented on Nature-Based Therapy, trauma rehabilitation, and environmental approaches to healing at conferences including the Association for Experiential Education International Conference, the New York State Mental Health Counselors Association, the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Nature as Medicine Doctors Outdoor Summit, and the United Nations COP15 World Summit on Climate Change. Her work bridges scientific rigor, clinical application, and experiential practice, supporting a new generation of practitioners in expanding healing beyond the traditional office. Her professional reach spans diverse cultures, communities, and socioeconomic contexts.
Through Integrating Nature Mental Health Counseling PLLC, Lindsay offers psychotherapy, training, and consultation designed to support deep personal healing, strengthen ethical clinical practice, and advance the future of nature-centered and culturally responsive mental health care.
